Welcome to New Mexico — Land of Enchantment
New Mexico is a state that’s landscape has changed little since it was initially settled. The northern plateau is still home to cattle ranches as it slopes south to the lower Pecos River valley with its wheat, barley and cotton fields. Carlsbad Caverns in the southernmost part of the state is one of the world’s largest cave. Vast forests of ponderosa pines, Douglas firs, junipers, and blue spruces shelter the foothills of the Mogollon Mountains. To the west lies a sprawling desert with the southern-most part of the southern-most Rocky Mountains. Preserved pueblos stand atop “Sky City” and Gila Cliff Dwelling National Monuments. Discover Taos and Santa Fe, which reside in the shadow of the majestic Sangre de Cristo Mountains. New Mexico destinations include national and state treasurers, Native American culture, and plenty of colorful festivals.
